As of today (26 June 2024), Immigration NZ has implemented significant changes to rules for partner and dependent child visas for Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) holders working in ANZSCO skill level 4 and 5 roles who are not on a pathway to residency.
Key Points:
- AEWV holders in ANZSCO level 4 and 5 roles without a residency pathway can no longer support work, visitor, or student visa applications for their partners and dependent children.
- Partners and dependent children can still apply for visas independently, such as an AEWV or an international student visa, provided they meet the requirements.
Who Is Not Affected:
- Current holders of partner or dependent children visas
- AEWV holders in ANZSCO level 4 and 5 roles with a residency pathway (e.g., in a green list and meeting the green list criteria, in a role covered by a sector agreement with a residence path)
- Those earning at least 1.5 times the median wage threshold for the Skilled Migrant Category ($47.41 per hour)
- Applicants with partner or dependent child visa applications in progress (these will be assessed under previous requirements)
- AEWV holders in ANZSCO level 1,2 and 3 roles.
